RV Mattress Sizes and Types
When it comes to camper and RV mattresses, comfort tends to come second after functionality. The size and type of your RV mattress can be a major factor in how well you sleep on the road. Without a quality mattress, your sleep can be affected which can later impact your driving safety.
Nothing is quite like having the comfort of home while on the road in your RV or semi-truck. The easiest way to achieve home level comfort is to invest in a higher quality mattress. With an aftermarket mattress, you can get better comfort, durability, and practicality than the OEM or factory mattress that came with your RV.
The Importance of Sleep While Traveling
Traveling is hard on the body, so finding a mattress that meets your sleep needs at the end of the day is critical. For an on the road RV mattress, features like temperature regulation, pressure relief, or motion isolation are crucial to maintaining comfort. SleepDog® mattresses are designed with all 3 of those criteria in mind and developed specifically for travel vehicles like RVs or semi-trucks.
Whether you are a prospective buyer or an owner of an RV, you may want to consider alternative mattress options before traveling. The mattress in your RV plays a significant role in the your quality of rest while traveling. If the mattress that comes with your RV is uncomfortable to sleep on, then sleep deprivation may affect your ability to enjoy and fully experience the trip. Sleep deprivation can also impair your ability to drive safely.

Measure Before Buying a New RV Mattress
With the varying sizes of motorhome beds, it is crucial to find the size and comfort level that will fit your needs while traveling. When looking for the right replacement mattress, consider the following components to ensure the mattress is the right fit.
The first thing to consider when buying a new RV mattress is the exact size of the bed in the RV. The easiest way to do this is to simply measure the mattress that came with the vehicle or the one with which it is currently equipped. Another important feature to look for in a new mattress is the ability to satisfy all sleep positions. SleepDog® mattresses are designed to rest comfortably for all sleep positions, especially while on the road. The third, arguably most important, feature to look for is DOT approval. SleepDog® mattresses should meet all of these expectations, ensuring safe and high quality sleep on long trips.
If you need a new mattress for your RV, then you should look at purchasing a new mattress online from SleepDog®. Our mattresses come in a variety of sizes for both tractor-trailer sleepers and RVs and are perfectly suited for life on the road. Frequently Asked Questions
Is an RV mattress the same as a traditional mattress?
The primary difference between an RV mattress and a standard mattress are the mattress dimensions. The standard mattress you use at home may have a slightly taller mattress profile than a RV mattress, however, the mattress constructions should be similar, if not the same. SleepDog® mattress offers two mattress models in RV queen, RV king and standard queen sizes so that you can experience the same level of comfort at home and on the road. The mattress constructions of these 3 sizes are identical, with only the length and width of the mattress itself varying.
What is the difference between RV Queen size vs standard queen size?
A standard queen size mattress measures 60” wide by 80”long, while the SleepDog® RV queen size mattress measures at 60” wide by 75” long. The only difference between the two sizes is five inches of length. The RV queen size measures five inches shorter to accommodate the smaller sleep spaces generally found in campers, RVs and travel trailers. All SleepDog® mattresses are tailored to fit the smaller space within an RV, but because every RV configuration is different, it is important to measure your sleep space before purchasing a new mattress.
