What Size Mattress Fits in an AirStream?

Airstream travel trailers have become the icon for traveling comfortably, and in style. However, the mattresses that travel trailers come stocked with only bring comfort so far. In the wake of a mattress upgrade, we suggest you always measure the bed in your Airstream RV, travel trailer, or van because the mattress size really depends on the model and year of the Airstream itself.
Sleeping well is so important while traveling. Sleep deprivation can leave people irritable and moody, which can often impede the quality of a road trip, possible even the safety of it. If you find yourself traveling in an Airstream RV, travel trailer, or van, but are struggling to sleep during your travels, then it may be time to consider a mattress upgrade. While this might sound simple, the beds and floorplans in Airstreams come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and configurations depending on your Airstream model, which are three factors you must consider before purchasing a new mattress. To simplify the mattress buying process for your Airstream, we have put together this easy-to-follow guide about all things RV mattress.

About Airstream Mattresses
Airstream has a long history, having produced its first model in 1936. With such a long history, it is no wonder that there are over 780 different floor plans. There were around 50 different Airstream models between 1999 and 2013 alone. Unfortunately, this makes buying a replacement mattress for an Airstream RV, travel trailer, or van, a process. Newer Airstream beds typically fit one of eight RV mattress sizes, which makes it unlikely to find the correct RV mattress size at a brick-and-mortar location. When it is time to replace the mattress in your RV, we recommend this simple approach - measure your current mattress and check out our selection at SleepDogMattress.com. At SleepDog®, we offer multiple mattress size options that can be delivered right to your door.
Mattress Sizes for 2021 Airstream Flying Cloud Models
Airstream travel trailers are truly an icon when it comes to comfortable traveling. For 2021, Airstream decided to give its Flying Cloud travel trailer a stylish new interior design. The 2021 Airstream Flying Cloud features updated bedding, as well as new color schemes, modern kitchen fixtures, new cabinets, new upholstery options, and much more. This model is available in fourteen different layouts and floorplans, all of which include either a standard twin size (34” x 80”) or RV queen size (60” x 75”) bed. To upgrade or replace the OEM mattress, travelers will need to buy a twin or RV queen size mattress.
RV Mattress Sizes
SleepDog® specializes in over-the-road mattresses, including RV mattresses, which means we have spent years developing a number of high-quality mattress options for travel trailers. Our mattress selections includes popular RV sizes, such as the RV queen size, which measures 60”x75”, and the RV King mattress, measuring 72”x75”. We offer other standard sizes commonly found in sleeper cabins, travel trailers or RVs, including size A (36” x80”), B (39”x80”), C (42”x80”), and D (32”x80. Because every RV is different, we highly suggest measuring your current mattress setup before you purchase your new mattress to ensure compatibility and the best night's rest.
OEM Airstream Mattresses vs. Sleep Dog RV Mattresses
The OEM, factory-made mattresses that come with RVs are not always designed with comfort in mind. While the OEM mattress may work for the time being, after substantial use you might find that it is relatively uncomfortable and not designed to withstand daily wear. Aftermarket mattresses are designed with the intention of making life on the road a little cozier. All SleepDog® mattresses are designed in sizes and constructions perfectly suited for the smaller spaces you find in RVs, campers and sleeper cabins, while still providing substantial support for all sleep preferences.
Measure Before Buying a New RV Mattress
At SleepDog®, we offer two different mattress models in a variety of common sizes. Our best-selling BigDawg Mattress™ is a 9” plush multilayer memory foam mattress that is infused with CoolRest® memory technology and topped with a padded mattress cover to provide extra comfort. The SleepDog® Mattress, our original mattress construction, is a 7” multilayer medium-firm memory foam construction, also infused with CoolRest® technology, designed to support any sleep position. Additionally, the memory foam in both of our mattresses is CertiPUR-US® certified, which means they are safe for you and your family.
If you need a new mattress for your RV, then you should buy one online from SleepDog®.
